Sorry, I'm running out of witty introductions to committee meeting updates. So, here's what happened at last week's ASTM meeting:
C 1688 (density and voids of fresh pervious): The move to the Marshall hammer continues. While the most recent subcommittee ballot was pulled due to some good comments associated with negative votes, it is not far from where it needs to be to pass. With some luck, we'll have this balloted and to the main C09 committee later this year.
C 1701 (surface infiltration field test): It seems we wrote a conflict within the document that needs to be worked out. If you follow 8.4 you can vilate 7.2. So, we'll need to add a 7.2.1 to resolve this. There will be a second ballot item to open the use to field acceptance of the surface.
C 1754 (density and voids of hardened pervious): Is perfect the way it is.
C 1747 (raveling resistance): Had two ballots pass subcommittee and will move on to main committee for approval for two small changes.
In other news, ISO is developing a test like 1701, but for the lab. The big problem with it is that it specifies rodding the cylinders. C09.49 has worked hard over the past few years to show that rodding doesn't produce good pervious concrete specimens, and we have kept that practice out of all pervious concrete standards within ASTM.
