Some regulatory news on pervious concrete and the International Green Construction Code -- the committe adopted comment 4-120:
4-120
Committee Action: Approved as Submitted
Committee Reason: The committee agreed that it was appropriate to exempt pervious concrete pavement from needing to be tested regarding its solar reflectance.
Here is the text of 4-120:
"404.2.1 Site hardscape materials. Hardscape materials shall have a minimum initial SolarReflectance Index of 29 when determined in accordance with ASTM E1980 using a convectioncoefficient of 2.1 Btu/h-ft2 (12 W/m2*k).
1. Exception: Pervious concrete pavements shall be allowed to be considered a hardscapematerial which meets the criteria for solar reflectance and need not be tested inaccordance with ASTM E1980."
Unfortunately, 4-133 (my comment) was disapproved, but the rationale was "The committee preferred the action taken to approve 4-132 and therefore disapproved this similar change."
